Working location: Discovery Bay
The incumbent will be responsible to coaching and supervising staff in golf course maintenance operations and management under the direction of Sr. Manager - Golf Course and supervision of the Manager - Golf Course. Helps manage the golf course maintenance department day-to-day activities through maintaining quality standards and training/ mentoring staff. Works directly with the Manager - Golf Course to help develop a daily work schedule and coordinate the related activities and necessary equipment with maintenance staff. Trains, supervises and oversees golf course employees. Assists with the supervision and quality control of construction/renovation projects and specific maintenance activities on the golf course and club grounds. Participates in the planning, implementation and execution of activities related to the care and maintenance of the entire area where golf is played. Assists the Golf Course Maintenance Department to coordinate operations with the Club Manager, DBGC department heads and other HKRI Business Units as required.

Requirements:
  • 4 - 5 years craft apprenticeship experience;
  • Knowledge of company structure, company policy, club mission, club rules and regulations, club byelaw, operation standard;
  • Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in grounds construction, landscaped area maintenance work and building maintenance and improvement;
  • Knowledge of basic agronomy, turfgrass science, the rules of golf and golf etiquette;
  • Ability to perform mathematic calculations as related to the job requirement, able to execute calibration techniques;
  • Ability to maintain of supplies, daily logs, application records, weather condition records and personnel records;
  • Ability to carry out and communicate detailed, written or verbal instructions;
  • Ability to operate and demonstrate the operation of trucks and light motorized equipment;
  • Possess good organizational skills and must possess logical and scientific thinking to solve problems;
  • Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to irrigation systems, including valves and controllers and various types of pumps and pumping systems;
  • Capable of the proper application of pesticides and fertilizers;
  • Communicates in a totally professional manner to subordinates, management, other DBGC staff, suppliers, members and other guests;
  • Proficiency in computer applications;
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English;
  • Physical strength, stamina and agility to perform duties in an outdoor environment. Ability to perform heavy physical labor. May be required to work in an environment that includes such activities as bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing and pulling.
