General Manager - The Sukhothai Shanghai (Ref: HKRI/GM-TSS/W)

Reporting directly to General Manager – Hospitality, the incumbent is responsible for the overall operations and leading the strategic management of The Sukhothai Shanghai hotel.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead strategy implementation monitoring through the continuous tracking and assessment of properties KPIs’ achievement against targets in order to ensure ongoing visibility on strategy execution, and identify delays and/or risks and recommend corrective actions where necessary, thus ensuring that the properties deliver the strategy as per the defined targets, timelines and budgets
  • Be the spokesperson of The Sukhothai Hotels and Resorts to instill and advocate company culture, vision and values to all colleagues
  • Lead the GMs to maintain the economic, environmental and social sustainability of Hotel Operations
  • Ensure the Hotel is delivering an appropriate operating return for the owner by achieving the budgeted profit levels
  • Ensure the Hotel’s physical quality product and service quality adhering to Company standards
  • Maintain excellent communications and relationship with hotel owners
  • Lead the Hotel to drive market share as determined by RevPAR positioning and growth
  • Monitor capital plan projects and refurbishments to ensure they are delivered on time and on budget while achieving an adequate ROI
  • Support and lead any Hotel opening ensuring the hotel opens with appropriate levels of quality and within brand parameters
  • Maintain regular effective communication with owners and assist GM’s in ensuring the correct implementation of the Hotel contract, thereby maintaining the best interests of all parties
  • Work with the corporate development team to secure new Hotel contracts and proactively endeavor to uncover development opportunities

Requirements:
  • University graduate in Hospitality Management or related disciplines
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in luxury hotel management, with at least 5 years of supervisory and managerial experience
  • Proven success records of hotel openings and leading major hotel renovations or rebranding projects
  • Strong operational knowledge across all hotel departments with the ability to drive continuous process improvements
  • Expert financial acumen with experience in budget management and financial forecasting
  • Excellent leadership abilities with a focus on staff development, team building and ability to inspire and motivate a diverse workforce
  • Strong communication skills as well as comprehension skills to articulate complex analytical topics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high flexibility and adaptability in managing a dynamic business environment
  • Positive, self-motivated and goal orientated
  • Commitment to high ethical standards and integrity
  • Fluent English and Mandarin
  • This candidate will be hired under a direct employment contract with a China Company of the Group
